Under 9s Match Report – 19/2/17 – Sale v Eccles

This week we saw the mighty Eccles face off against Sale, the boys were in good spirits after their early morning trip to Sale RLFC stadium and were eager to put another win under their belt.

Captained by Flynn this week, the Game started at a quick pace which initially caught the boys out and they allowed the opposition to score a couple of cheeky tries but they soon adapted and drew level thanks to tries from from Mason and Max.

Alfie, Finley and Flynn provided a solid defence and the lead was soon in Eccles hands, With Max sprinting down the right-hand side leaving a group of Sale players in his wake. Alex then scored his first try with a fantastic move that saw him head for the line and nothing was going to stop him.

No change of ends for the second quarter, Sale were quick out of the blocks again and scored but Max and Mason pulled on their scoring boots again to show them we meant business. Owen operated well at scrum half and his quick distribution of the ball kept Sale on the back foot and Eccles on the attack.

The 3rd quarter saw the a magnificent try from Finley who ran at least a mile from side to side wearing the opposition out enough to be able to cruise through the middle of their defence. Conor as always provided the midfield support to allow the team to score on more than one occasion.

The final quarter, saw a comeback from Sale but the boys were more than up for the challenge with a try from Alfie to prove he is back and fighting fit and the lads kept their heads up to finish the game with another win at 10-13.

A special mention to our new superstar in the making Alex, 2 tries in his first ever game of Rugby is a sign of big things to come from this young man
