The first full training session of the year with almost a full squad in attendance and whilst the session was dry I did think the kids may be blown away at one point.
After a quick warm up with the usual shuttles and exercises, the order of the day was to keep everyone moving.
This week everyone seemed to still have their “Christmas head” on, lots of messing around and the attention span of goldfish … not good when our first game of 2015 is next week!
The first drill was a repeat of the tagging exercises from before Christmas and to be fair the exercise was performed well. Special mentions go to the “pirouetting” Michael, “lightening hands” Oliver and the “auld flick of the hips” Peggy.
To keep everyone from getting cold we switched to defence and attack drills at which point everyone started to switch off.
To finish I tried to organise a quick end of session game, disappointingly the U8s finished dead on 11:30 and the U7s also took it as a sign their session was also ending. Game abandoned!
STAR OF THE WEEK goes to an impressive performance in the tagging drill where a ninja meets high jump meets cheesy grin style made it almost impossible to be tagged. Congratulations to our own little cheeky imp, Sam. Well done!
Next week we are playing Bury at home with at 10:30 start. As usual the car parking will be mayhem so better being on the early side.
See you next Sunday
