Under 14’s win a tight one at Tyldesley

I love a tight game…..especially when we win. And a Blacksticks one at that.

Eccles had a 1pm kick off in the sunshine on the first team pitch at Tyldesley……..and even with the later start people were late (and enjoyed the bench).

Eccles won with tries from Sean, Shane and Tumy and the other points coming from the boot of Joe.

Eccles worked very well in defence in particular Shane who took the Tyldesley big centre by stopping him in his tracks. The view from the Tyldesley coaching team was normally he doesn’t get stopped. There was good pressure across the pitch.

Some notable performances was Callan distributing the ball, Liam playing a first game at second row & Ciaran making a nuisance of himself. Then there was the jack in the box, spinning top, “what’s he going to do next” Sean. How anyone can support one of his runs I don’t know.

Eccles used the ball well and the passing was much crisper which was nice to see.

Eccles almost blew the game when the ball was dropped over the line with five minutes to go. However scrum after scrum followed and Eccles kept Tyldlesey in their 22 metre area and eventually Tumy crashed over to take the win with the last play of the game.

Tyldesley are a very physical direct team who took Eccles all the way and it was a good game with two committed teams.

Well done all. Remember you need to be a training to get better and keep your place.
