Under 12 v. Sedgley Park and Bolton– Away- Sunday 17th April

Results: Two wins!       v. Bolton  Win 10– 25                  v. Sedgley Win 0-40

v. Bolton

Today’s was a round robin fixture; Sedgley hosting both Bolton and Eccles U12s in front of the grandstand on the first team pitch.

Eccles started by watching Bolton take on the home team. Bolton dominated the game and looked like a force to be reckoned with, so we knew that we were going to get a good game against them and so it proved to be.

Bolton provided strong opposition, but there was good pressure from Eccles and some effective running through the centre by the forwards with good support and follow up play from the backs. Jake, Lucas and Henry demonstrated good passing and Jack was strong in the rucks. Harvey made some robust tackles. Once again, this was a phenomenal whole team performance. Bolton were clearly a strong side, yet were not able to halt the winning streak of this team.

Two quotes sum up the match. Firstly from Hayley, “It was like watching proper rugby” and secondly, Bolton’s match report praising our “well drilled physical approach”.

Tries: George 2, Luke H, Lucas, Billy/Jake – both sets of hands on the ball!

v. Sedgley

The second match against Sedgley proved less demanding for the boys; there were ample opportunities to break through the Sedgley line and, in contrast, Sedgley did not once manage to score against us. Again, there were many notable performances, in particular, Henry’s darting runs, Nathan’s speed, Duncan powering through the defence as if they were from the land of Lilliput –  there was no stopping him today, and finally Sarah, who had more action than a shift on A & E!

Tries: Lucas, Henry 2, Harvey, George, Billy, Will B, Nathan

Well done boys! Two super performances. Good luck at the Preston Festival next week.
