Under 12 v. Glossop– Home- Sunday 6th March

Result:  Win 60 – 10

The boys played well as a team today and, in the pleasant sunshine, provided a Mothers’ Day treat for the watching mums.

From the kick off, there was an early try from George, following a super run and pass from Henry. Reece was the captain today and led by example from the start. He had a great game of surging runs and strong tackles. Early on, he put in a precise kick to the corner, which was chased down expertly and scored by Luke F. George turned over the ball well at the breakdown to feed Will B. who, for the first time of his three tries in the match, sprinted down the wing to score. Eccles did some effective passing today, a good example of which, was from the maul to George to Harvey and then out to Luke, who placed the ball over the try line. Luke F. had a particularly convincing first quarter and continued to play well throughout.

The second quarter was more of the same with strong individual performances from several players; Lucas, who scored  an impressive four tries with his signature runs the length of the pitch, Will B. with his second try, strong tackles and influential play from Billy, terrific running from Finley, good driving forward play from Jack and Will R , forward running and a try from Henry (who had clearly had speed training from his dad, managing to purchase two full wedding outfits and a mothers’ day gift in 30 minutes in the Trafford Centre! How? What will they look like? We need photographic evidence, please.) The quarter ended with a try from George, who was encouraged to put down the ball by Wade; the term “twinkle” was coined by predictive text.

The third quarter saw the sun disappear along with the form. Eccles had a tougher time, allowing Glossop to score two tries; positioning was a problem for us, in spite of Adam’s encouragement from the side lines.

The sun reappeared for the fourth quarter and so did the form. There was some decent forward play from Duncan and Connor, sound work at the breakdown from Will R, effective passing from Jake, fine sprints from Harry and a clever run around pass from Luke H. and George. Reece got a well-deserved try towards the end, following his splendid catch and dart to the line. Will B. finished the match achieving his hat-trick. Welcome to Tyler who has settled into the team well on the wing. Good developments in our forward and defensive play were evident today. Well done boys.
