Under 12 v. Dukinfield– Home- Sunday 13th March

Result:  Win 70 – 30

Today was another strong performance from this U12 side, providing them with their impressive eleventh win of the season, having only lost two matches. Well done coaches!

Eccles made a convincing start with two early tries from Nathan and Lucas. Dukinfield managed to snatch one back, resulting in three tries in the first ten minutes. The stage was set for a lot of points on the board today. There was good passing play from Finley to George to Will, who just missed the try line. Billy and George did well at the breakdown, turning over the ball. Billy was as tenacious as ever with his determined tackles. The next try was for Lucas, when George off–loaded at the five metre line and then Reece was in, after a powerful charge to the line. Eccles, once again, were strong from the scrum, getting the ball to Lucas who, as on three occasions this match, in true Lucas style, charged the length of the pitch to place the ball over the try line. He scored a remarkable five tries today. Finley brought the half to a close with a terrific run and pass to Luke who finished it off with flair to get his try. The half demonstrated great team play, good passing and effective tackling.

Eccles had a bit of a wakeup call in the early minutes of the second half. Dukinfield had come out more determined and were quick to find gaps in our defence and get an early try. Nonetheless, our spirit was soon galvanised; a super pass from George to Luke, allowed him to use his pace and hand off skill to place the ball over the try line. Dukinfield, however, were not going down without a fight and scored two more consecutive tries. Our boys seemed to be tiring, but were spurred on by heroic tackling from Nathan and then his sprint down the wing to score one of his three indomitable tries of the match. Jake was as resolute as always at scrum half, influencing the game with his quick passing; his try was well deserved. George got the final two tries after being set up on the five metre line by Reece and Billy.

This was yet again an excellent whole team performance and all boys played their part in this victory.
