U9s v Wigan, Sunday 17th March

Wigan were the visitors for the last scheduled match prior to the Easter break. After periods of heavy rain preceding match day, there were one or two muddy puddles lining the pitch.

Wigan were in fine form and unfortunately Eccles could not live with their fantastic attacking and defensive display. The boys could not be faltered for their effort though and put in a shift of running and tackling, but could not prevent Wigan running out convincing 10-0 winners.

A further 10 minutes warm-down match was arranged after the game, during which Henry scored a fantastic try, battling his way over the line, which gave sufficient reason for the home crowd to cheer!

After some promising recent results and evidence of progress in training, this result was disappointing for the boys, but one which I’m sure they will learn from.
