U9s v Sedgley Park 4th November 2012

Eccles entertained an enthusiastic Sedgley team on a cold, but bright Sunday morning hoping to continue in the vein of form with which they opened their competetive season with a win against Liverpool St Helens.

The boys started really well and raced into an early lead thanks to a run and try from Duncan after some great link up play and passing in the team. That was the first of Duncan’s hat-trick of tries to cap an excellent display.

The boys were on top throughout an excellent first half display and went in at the break with a 4-2 lead thanks to another try from Duncan and two great efforts from Luke H.

Sedgley staged a great fightback in the second half and when Henry added a 5th Eccles try, the game was even at 5-5. When Duncan added the last of his three tries just before the end, there was hope of a second consecutive victory, but in the last few seconds, Sedgley rescued a well deserved draw with a last ditch try.

A throughly entertaining and nailbiting game, with some great play from all of the Eccles players. Some excellent runs and tackling from Jack earned the game’s Man of the Match award.
