U7s Training 20/10/2013

As we move towards Winter I was wondering if the numbers at training would start to dwindle. Not so!!!!! Fifteen at training including three debutants, namely Finley, Joel and Eva. As always a big Eccles welcome to all three.

A new feature, in addition to the “Star” is “Captain of the Week”. This week it goes to birthday boy Reece in light of last weeks performance against Heaton Moor that was omitted from match report (I will need to have words with the journo covering that match on my behalf!)

Using last weeks game as a bench mark, Heaton Moor were very adept in the defensive line and this week we “tried” to instil movement as a single unit. Who would have thought this a difficult task, but it was!

Concentration levels were at a minimum.

We also worked on off-loading the ball in a tackle. Mentions must go to Mitchel, Owen, Peggy, Harry and Max who seemed to get the point the exercise. Will they remember for the match next week???????

The session tag rugby game was a largely a scrappy and boisterous affair. I was hoping for use of the off-loading and defensive training we had done previously but none was on display. It was good however, to see a number of the previously shy people queuing up to take the ball on and really getting involved. There were tries for Ben, Harry, Archie and Max plus a mazy solo effort from Finley

My Star of the Week is Peggy. She was part winning blue team in the ball handling exercises plus also the effort and understanding in the off loading exercise and finally, in what is rapidly becoming her “signature”, a piece of genius opportune running to take the ball whilst the reds defence was in disarray and going over in the corner for the try of the game. Well done Peggy.

Next Sunday sees the visit of Trafford M.V to Gorton Street. If possible can we make it a 10:15 start and we will try and run through some exercises before the game. Also I may be asking for help as Martin is swanning off to Amsterdam (don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!!) for the weekend.

Finally, we have a Halloween party after the match for all kids, there is a charge of 50p that needs to be collected (see para above about helping! Thanks in advance) and the kids will get goodie bag.
