The weather was perfect, we had huge numbers turn up and the kids were up for the training session. OK …two out of three aint bad (and before anyone asks no more song titles!)
The session comprised of the usual …
In Heroes and Villains there was some sneaky positioning from Peggy and Max, constantly moving location in the line to the place of least defenders and getting them both to the final stages of the game.
The two passing drills, in the main were executed well with some excellent running from Omar, big Josh, Louis and Ben with the pairing of Mitchel and Reece being the pick of the performances.
The now traditional numbers game threw up some excellent play with bursting runs aplenty, especially Omar (continuing from where he left off last week), Lucas, Lewis and the uber determined Sandy.
Most pleasing of all (this is where STAR OF THE WEEK comes in) was the passing away from the tag area giving the receiver space to run. Ben, Omar, Lucas and Archie were put across the try line by decisive passes from the now named “Curly” Josh and these passes were what caught my eye this week. Well done Josh, looks like we have our number 10 Martin!
We are now closing in on the end of the season with only four games remaining. There will be awards and presentation at the end of the season and whilst the exact categories have not yet been decided a “Players Player” is expected to be one. If you can all have a think on who deserves this award I will arrange a ballot over the coming weeks.
Next Sunday is a home game against Bolton. Last week at Tyldesley they had an entire squad of four players. If they bring similar numbers then I will look to organise a training session/internal game for the Eccles massive. As usual for match days arriving for 10:15 would be good!
