U13 go to the Sale but get more than they bargained

Eccles U13 started playing at the usual time of 11 am. Unfortunately the game kicked off at 10:30 and they were already three tries down. To Sale’s credit they wanted the game more and were aggressive at the rucks which allowed their backs to make metres against a makeshift Eccles back line with new starters and missing some established players. To be fair the big Sale centre was proving the key difference.

After some home truths from the coaches Eccles started to fight back and pressurised Sale into some errors but panicked when in possession and either kick the ball away which Sale ran back or knocked on in the contact. Movng Sean from full back to the back row had the desired effect and he started to annoy the Sale side.

In the second half and a switch in the centres saw the Eccles backs making a number of tackles which meant that the Eccles pack started to see more of the ball.

As last week Callan made telling runs and was rewarded with 2 tries. The JC, who moments earlier complained of a sore ankle, gathered the ball and ran 30 metres to score. Fine reward as he was the only Eccles player who turned up from the start. He was tireless in hitting the rucks and was the stand out player in the first half.
