A very cold, damp morning saw dedicated players travel to Sefton, Liverpool to play in a round robin.

Eccles RUFC v Sefton RUFC

Some good play by Sefton allowed them to open the score. Eccles stepped up their game and some brilliant passing allowed Calvin to score two tries.

Eccles continued to apply pressure with some great team work which helped Calvin score his third try of the game. Sefton continued to drive forward and managed to score two more tries before the final whistle was blown. Final score Sefton 3 Eccles 3.

An excellent performance by both teams and a game that was refereed to perfection.


Eccles RUFC v Hoylake RUFC

Eccles played the second game against Hoylake in the Sefton round robin.

The second game was a great joy to watch with some brilliant passing which allowed Calvin to take the ball and score the first try for Eccles. An excellent rip by Nick saw several passes by Eccles before the ball was passed to Calvin who passed it off to Harvey helping him to make his first try. Hoylake quickly responded by scoring their first try of the match. Eccles players decided to take control of the game with Annie ripping the ball, passing it to Ernie who passed it to Harvey who ran forward and scored Eccles third try. Score at half time Eccles 3 Hoylake 2. Eccles made some extensive play which saw Nick make a good tackle before ripping the ball then passing it to Charlie who passed to Harvey then Patrick who pushed forward and scored his first try of the day. Half time Eccles 4 Hoylake 3.

Second half saw Harvey make a great run to score his third try. Hoylake continued to apply the pressure and after some great passing scored another try. Calvin gained possession of the ball and a clear run to score another try. Hoylake catch Eccles on the hop and score just before the final whistle is blown. Final score Eccles 6 Hoylake 5.
