Ladies pre-season training commences on Tuesday 4 July 2017 at 19:30. Training will take place twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays led by new head coach, James Wright. James was part of the coaching team last year and takes over from Mark Greenhalgh who stepped down as head coach at the end of last season.
Mark has been part of a very successful era in the history of the ladies section which includes back to back promotions, a league title in 2011/12, consolidation in the second tier of women’s rugby in England for the 1st XV and the creation of a 2nd XV that are now an established team playing league rugby. We would like to say a massive thank you to Mark for all his time, commitment and effort; we look forward to continuing working with him in his capacity as Eccles RFC Secretary.
2017/18 once again sees us entering two teams into the league and we are pleased to welcome any new players to the club. Whether you have never played rugby before, are returning to rugby after a break or are an existing rugby player seeking a new challenge, this is a place that is full of opportunity and you will be made to feel very welcome. We are a sociable group so there is plenty of fun to be had away from the rugby pitch too.
We have players playing for fun and we have players that are achieving representative honours. Whatever your level of ability, no matter what level of commitment you can offer, there is an opportunity for you to play rugby at Eccles RFC.
New players are always welcome; just turn up on the night or if you would like more information you can contact the Captain, Igemi (07834 158242), Head Coach, James (07791 227616) or Team Manager, Nina (07796 382547). Alternatively, look us up on on social media via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
We’re looking forward to a big year of female rugby including the Women’s Rugby World Cup which takes place in Ireland this summer and we are also working hard to strengthen our links with the Girls Rugby section at Eccles RFC. If you would like more information on girls rugby at Eccles RFC, please contact Declan O’Regan 07842 909510.
Other than that, we will see you at training in our beloved navy and white.
