Ladies – National Cup 1/4 Final – Sunday 22/02/2015 @ Eccles

Eccles Ladies continue their National Cup run this Sunday as they welcome West Park Leeds back to Gorton Street for a quarter-final tie. Eccles will be looking to repeat the success they had last season when they made it all the way to the final.

With the league season completed, Eccles traveled to West Bridgford in January to take on their Championship North 1 rivals in the National Cup. A tough encounter started well for Eccles as they took the lead, only to allow their rivals to come back and level the score at 12-12.

It was only in the dying minutes that Eccles gained some momentum in their opponent’s half; Captain, Katie finished off the phases with a typical determined run to crash over and claim the win on the very last play. Relief and elation was evident in equal measures as Eccles celebrated the victory. Finding a way to win was the most pleasing aspect of a tough afternoon with the ‘togetherness’ of the team strengthened even more.

Eccles have been drawn against league opponents once more in the National Cup as they prepare to face West Park Leeds. It is ‘honours even’ thus far with both teams winning their league fixture at home this season. This is the third meeting of the two sides and will no doubt be the toughest; the addition of the game being knock-out rugby makes the fixture even more appealing.

The game kicks off on Sunday 22 February at 14.00 and all spectators are welcome. The Ladies most definitely appreciate your support and look forward to putting in a good performance in the navy and white of Eccles.
