Our new HITZ programme, starting in Eccles/Salford, will be held at Eccles Rugby Club and we are looking to recruit young people (16-19) onto the programme immediately.
HITZ is the award winning education programme, delivered on behalf of Premiership Rugby in the North West by Sale Sharks Community Trust. HITZ tackles some of the greatest challenges facing young people today – unemployment, crime and disillusionment by using rugby and sport to increase young people’s resilience, self-reliance and confidence. The programme provides 16-18 year old young people with the skills to get back into education, vocational training, apprenticeships and employment by providing a unique mix of education, sport and issue based sessions including improved employability skills.
We run a 6 month traineeship, where learners will gain a qualification, improve their English and Maths, complete a four week work placement and upon finishing the programme they will progress into a job or an apprenticeship. The programme runs from Monday to Thursday 9.30 am till 2.00 pm, with education sessions starting at 10.00 am till 12.30 pm and sports/issue based/employability session starting 12.30 pm till 2.00 pm. As well as this we take learners on trips to Barclays Premier League games, international rugby matches, Sale Sharks games, Land Rover Experience Days and have Barclays deliver life skills sessions.
Additionally, young people will receive a bursary of up to £37.50 a week (means tested), free kit and the opportunity meet Sale Sharks players.
If you have any young people that you think would be interested in the programme please let me know.
Also any contacts you could pass on to me, who would be worth getting in contact with regarding getting young people onto the programme, that would be great and much appreciated.
Should you require any further information please let me know.
