GLOSSOP 7-48 ECCLES JNR COLTS

17.02.13 – 12.30 pm k.o.               Att: 36

Eccles travelled to Glossop for the final league game of this campaign. Eccles had nearly a full squad but Glossop only had 14 players. Uncontested scrums also because they didn’t have a front row! Glossop had the chance to break the deadlock with a penalty after 8 minutes but the kick was wide. Eccles attacked with Harry going over to score his first try of the afternoon, Aaron converted, 0-7. The next attack saw Eccles score again, Matt Pass out to Harry who went over in the corner, Aaron missed the kick, 0-12. Glossop were awarded another penalty but like the first one the kick was wide. Eccles pressed again and a great drive by Harry Benn saw him score his 3rd try of the game, Aaron converted, 0-19. Eccles were looking good but on the very last play of the half Glossop somehow broke through the Eccles defence to score under the sticks, 7-19.

HT 7-19.

Straight from the kick off Aaron kicked and chased and caught the ball but was tackled well. Simon had a couple of good drives testing the Glossop defence. Ross dummied well only to see his efforts brought back for a forward pass. Tom Waring put in some good tackles. Eccles were winning more ball as the game went on and when the forwards drove well and the ball went out to the backs Evan went over to score his first try of the game, Aaron missed the conversion, 7-24.

Eccles attacked again and when they were awarded a free kick, quick thinking from Matt Pass picked out Aaron Booth who in turn found Harry Benn who ran towards the Glossop try line. Harry unselfishly passed out to Ross Eaton who scored in the corner, Aaron missed the difficult kick, 7-29. Eccles were well on top now and once again the forwards drove well. The ball out to the backs and Evan went over to score his 2nd try of the game, Aaron converted, 7-36. Glossop continued to put up a fight but Eccles just pressed and tackled well. Next on the score sheet was Captain Curtis Bates who attacked the try line dummied well and went over to score a well-deserved try, Aaron converted, 7- 43. In the final minutes Curtis received the ball ran towards the Glossop line and passed out to his brother Connor Bates who scored in the corner, Aaron missed the difficult conversion, 7-48. Well played lads.
