On Friday Night from 7:30pm two groups will be presented with their medals and awards.
Three years ago a group of young men and women started the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme with a lot of help and encouragement from Mark Baines and Carole Pass. This has culminated in them traveling to St.James Palace to be presented with their Gold medals. However, we are sure that as this is a First for Eccles RFC , it will mean more to them to be presented again within the club environs.
From that initial start the DofE has continued to grow, more volunteers have joined further enhancing the skills and experience base within the team. All of which have been used to further assist and encourage the participants across all levels.
On the same night we will be proud to present Bronze medals to the group that have since moved onto their Silver award. This group are currently practicing for their expedition which is to canoe along a stretch of the river Wye from Hereford to Symonds Yat.
Representatives from both groups will give a short presentation as to their experiences and achievements.
All are most welcome to join in this celebration in the knowledge that Eccles RFC, the First Rugby Club in Great Britain to offer the DofE Scheme, has been well represented by these young men and women.
