Well that was a summer that was over far too quickly! Or maybe, thanks to the prolonged school holidays endorsed by South Ribble Council where my two attend, it felt like an eternity!
Either way, now they’re back at school, it means the rugby season is upon us!
The U9s have continued to train right through the summer months in preparation for their first season of contact rugby. This is the point in their rugby progression where one or two surprises present themselves as the boys develop their techniques and style of play into the contact area.
They have worked really hard over the summer, and are continuing to do so in preparation for that first game.
We are training Wednesday evenings; 6.30pm and Sundays; 10.30am.
The training has obviously revolved around the tackle area and the techniques involved, but leading up to the opening game, there will be more emphasis given to ball handling and presentation, as well as lines of support running.
However, if you are a newcommer to the sport, or your maybe thinking you’d like your child to have a go with the oval ball; then you will be made more than welcome to come down. Regardless of ability, fitness levels or knowlege of the sport; it’s enthusiasm thats important – especially when it comes to the sausage n chips on a Sunday!!
We have three qualified coaches, along with first aiders and a child welfare officer, and a club physio available to all members.
The club has fully heated changing facilities and floodlit training areas for those murky winter nights!
If you need any further information, please do contact any of the coaches. Details can be found on the U9s section on the right hand side of the web page.
