Eccles u18s girls v Castleford Away

Eccles U18s girls travelled to yorkshire on sunday in search of a game. Unfortunately Eccles were understrenght due to a number of long term injuries, so could only field 8 of their own players.

Castleford were very obligingly loaned Eccles 2 extra players so a 10 a side game was possible.

Eccles were looking to build on the work they have been doing around the breakdown such as securing their own ball and competing/steeling the opposition ball. This they did with some success in particular Captain Katie Purcell, Tysha Harper, Leah Christian and Holly Brand.

First up Tackling was however an issue and Castleford made the most of this scoring a couple of soft tries early on.

Eccles always look dangerous with ball on hand and two tries by centre Hollie Bawden (Converted by Alicia Calton) helped Eccles stay in touch.

Tysha Harper and alicia Calton also came close to scoring on a numvber of other occassions only to be stopped short of the line by some excellent Castleford cover tackling.

Holly Brand at scrum Half had an Excellent all round game with some superb tackling and excellent ball distribution.
