Eccles U10s v Littleborough (home friendly) Sunday 9th March

Eccles v Littleborough (home friendly) – Sunday 9th March

The U10s hosted Littleborough for a friendly match, and with a handful of new players joining the ranks, it was a good opportunity to blood some new talent for the season’s run-in. It was a good turn out for players and parents alike, the warm weather and sunshine doing its bit to cheer everyone up!

The first quarter was a tight encounter, with Littleborough starting the stronger with two well worked tries. However, just when we started to think that the game was already getting away from us, the boys pulled the score back with two tries from Billy and Will B, the second try coming courtesy of some good work from Jake to set Will B up for as run. The quarter ended with a third Littleborough try, to lead 3- 2 at the break.

The second quarter brought a new squad of players, but Eccles were unable to add to their score, despite some good work from George, Connor and Joe. Littleborough added another two tries to end the first half with a commanding 5-2 lead.

Quarter 3 was much the same as Quarter 2. Despite some hard work and determination, and some good tackling from Will R and Henry and good handling from Harry and Sam, Eccles couldn’t make the break through, and with the visitors adding two more tries, the score was 7-2 at the end of Quarter 3.

Quarter 4 brought 3 more tries for Littleborough to win the match by 10 tries to 2 (50-10). A hard fought game and some good moments from the players, but the visitors were too much on the day and deserved the victory.

Another good learning curve for the boys, with a home match to come next week against Bolton. Come on Eccles!
