Last Wednesday at the February meeting of North Manchester Camra Branch, Eccles RFC were once again voted the Club of the Year. To put it simply this means that the people who know about such things consider Eccles RFC to be the best Club within Salford and adjoining areas for Real Ale.
To win the award last year was a great achievement, but to win it two years in succession just looks like showing off.
Well done to Marie Wilson and all of her permanent and temporary helpers/bar staff who helped the club to achieve the award again.
As with last year the club will now go forward to the Greater Manchester Regional competition, in which last year we were placed third. Lets hope we can do just a bit better this year. If you read or hear about a club in Bolton or Stalybridge burning to the ground, it will be totally coincidental, honest.
The presentation of the award to the club will take place in April with all the club being welcome to attend.
