Eccles Jnr Colts 45 v 7 Glossop

Gorton St.             04.11.12 – 12.30 pm k.o.             Att: 85

After last weeks great effort at Oldham, Eccles were back to nearly full strength with only Joe Greene and MattyPass still out injured.

Eccles soaked up the early pressure from Glossop and were rewarded when some slick passing from the backs found Ben out on the wing who went over to score, Aaron kicked the conversion, 7-0. Eccles kept the pressure on and once again some good passing through the backs saw Evan go over to score, Aaron missed the difficult kick, 12-0.

Glossop regrouped with there number 10 breaking through several attempted Eccles tackles and going over to score a well taken try, 12-7.

Simon Rodgers came off the bench to make his debut at hooker and soon blended in with the rest of the Eccles pack. Captain Curt led by example with some great drives and was rewarded with a great try as he powered over, Aaron converted, 19-7.

HT 19-7

Connor came off at the break suffering a slight injury and was replaced by Ross. Eccles kept up the pressure with some good passing again through the backs with Sam almost putting Evan in again but Evan some how dropped the ball. Eccles continued to press forward and from a ruck Tom Waring passed the ball out down the line and into the hands of Ross who had Tom Heath screaming outside him but Ross decided not to give it to him and some how turned and gave the ball to Evan who managed to score, much to the delight of coach Dave (NOT). Aaron kicked the conversion, 26-7.

Eccles were looking comfortable now and piled on the pressure coach Dave made several changes, Martin, Johnny, Joe H and Mark came on and Connor who had a great first half also got back into it. Harry attacked the Glossop defence but it was Lenny who took the ball from the maul and ran 40 metres, if not further! Faster than Usain Bolt! (according to Lenny) and scored. Now unfortunately for Lenny the cameras were not at Gorton street this week…

Aaron missed the conversion?? 31-7.

In the forwards Harry, Curtis and Connor drove well and passed well and Harry was rewarded with a great burst through to score which Aaron converted, 38-7.

Eccles were not finished and once again some good passing out to Evan who found Johnny who some how flicked the ball through his own legs out to Ross who dived over the line to score, Aaron converted, 45-7.

Another good solid performance by the lads.

Man of the match Lenny.

Ps. Jason has not retired, buckled under the pressure. His girlfriend is moving in and so he is busy decorating!
