ECCLES Jnr Clts 26 v 5 FYLDE

ECCLES Jnr Colts 26 v FYLDE 5

Gorton St              23.12.12 – 12.30 pm k.o.             Att: 45

Eccles welcomed the visitors who travelled with only 12 players so Sean and Martin donned the Fylde colours. The pitch looked heavy so it was important that Lenny strapped his little toe up well to avoid further injury!

Eccles had lots of possession but failed to capitalise a lot down to the conditions. Eccles finally had some success with a quick ball out to Tom Heath who ran 40 yards to score under the posts, Aaron kicked the easy conversion, 7-0.

Eccles continued to dominate the possession but kept giving away silly penalties and paid the price when Fylde broke free and scored, 7-5. Due to Fylde only having 14 players, Ross who was playing at no 8 joined the backs for most of the game and was rewarded when he received the ball out on the right. He attacked the defensive line and went over taking 2 Fylde players with him to score. Aaron kicked the conversion, 14-5.

Ben playing at full back caught well and his positional play was good. Aaron dictated play at stand off.

HT 14-5.

Fylde were still in the game, the scrum half and stand off tackled well and there forwards fought well. Due to an early injury to a Fylde player Johnny went onto the Fylde side. Curt got the forwards going, Harry and Lenny made good ground, Simon drove forward, Rob supported. Evan who was playing flanker enjoying the game. David caught well in the line outs but what let the team down was there discipline or lack of it. Time and time again the forwards were penalised much to the joy of coach Dave! (still hoarse from the carols & brass band the day before!)

Sam, Joe and Conner in the backs had some decent ball but unfortunately couldn’t make it count.

It took a break from Lenny who off loaded to Evan who despite the conditions ran through the Fylde defence to score, Aaron converted, 21-5.

As the mud thickened Eccles kept on going. Matty (welcome back) got the ball out to Harry who got a quick pass out to Evan who scored his 2nd try, Aaron missed the difficult kick, 26-5.

FT 26-5.

Thanks to Sean, Martin & Johnny for playing for the opposition.

Man of the match: Evan.
