The thirds entertained Marple at home for an away fixture as their opponents had conceded earlier in the season and were in the groove right from the kick off.Whilst last week it to until the second half for the forwards to get up momentum in this game it was obvious that they were hungry for action and it did not long for an opening score as the ball was driven upfield and then spread wide for John Farrar to touchdown. The pressure on the visitors told again as Eccles prized an opening for prop Richard Owen to add second try.The thirds were on top in the forwards making Marple work hard in defence and though the visitors tried to make use of their big centres the Eccles tackling was well up to the task. Winger Ryan Chattington woyld would spurned a golden scoring chance nvertheless set up the third try with a weaving run before sending in Farrar under the posts.Marple bagged a penalty before had to go to passive scrumming with the loss a prop but that did little to stam the Eccles onslaught as first Kris Whitehead again having a stormer crashed over before Nick Hagean managed elude the cover to add a fifth which with Sam Thomson four conversions saw the thirds a healthy 31-3 ahead the interval. The second continued in similar vein with a debut for prop Stuart Faulkner after many years absence who then proceed to bag a hatrick of tries allied to his charging bursts. Marple did manage to score three tries themselves the last won for vet hooker Paul Heard but each score from the visitors who almost immediately answered with one from Eccles . Chattington grabbed two with a speedy sprints down the touchline and Danny Rice on a replacement scrum half one himself with Thomson tagging on five conversions.
