Eccles 3rd 34 v Old Bedians 3rd 47 09/09/2017

Bedians arrived with just 9 and Eccles too only had 11 with many changes from last weeks side and 9 of the squad were forwards to boot . A couple of long term absentees made a return Danny Cartwright  from injury and Mark Plumbridge from the cider apple orchards plus Ben Hogan made his debut having never played rugby before. Gary Hamer sneaked off to play for Bedians  (he can smell winning side) to even the numbers up whilst a quick drawing of straws sorted the Eccles line up .Needless to say the pace was frantic with lead changing hands at will in the first halve to leave Bedians 17-10 up at the interval with Plumbridge going over after good forward interplay and John Brookes adding a second .The second start was a shambles for the 3rds as Bedes rattled in 3 quick tries  in succession  and a rout threatened but harsh words and  positional  musical chairs stemmed the tide as Cartwright (man of the match) playing at fly half and Brookes scored to reduce the arrears .Bedes adding a couple of tries in reply but Eccles finished strongly with strong forward play with Brookes completing his hat trick and Andy Coop adding the final try whilst Tony Hudson slotted two conversions. The visitors had the advantage of youthful pace and exploited it to the full but credit to the 3rds who eventually got a game plan going plus most of all the game was played .
