Eccles Ladies are the premier women’s team in Greater Manchester. Last season we finished 6th in Championship North, the second tier of women’s rugby (one below Premiership). We had 12 players selected for Lancashire, and one for North of England. Next season we’re aiming even higher.
Following a successful season of friendlies, Eccles Ladies 2 have been accepted into the leagues (level 5) for 2015/16. The purpose of the team is to give playing opportunities for new or inexperienced players, and for those who can’t or don’t want to commit to the rigours of level 2 rugby (for now).
To support our continued improvement and development we are looking for (at least) two new coaches to join the team. One to work primarily with the 1XV, focusing on more advanced skill refinement and fine-tuning. The other concentrating on the 2XV, developing basic skills and encouraging enjoyment. Though there will be a large amount of overlap and interwork between the roles and teams which will be adapted to suit.
Training is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 19:30-21:00. Matches are usually played on Sunday afternoons. Attendance at all three sessions would be preferred, but we can be flexible.
No experience is required, just the right desire and attitude. The roles are voluntary but the club offers free gym membership to players and coaches* and will subsidise the attainment of coaching and other qualifications where possible/relevant.
