Close Call – Eccles u18s Girls

Sunday saw the start of the u18s girls season with a new look about it. Debutants up from last season’s u15s Hollie Bawden, Leah Christian and Ela Acir made their first appearance for the u18s and did themselves proud.

The game was split into 3 thirds and treated as a friendly trial game although that message didn’t seem to get across to the girls who were of the opinion that there is no such thing as a friendly.

Eccles started the first third with a bang and dominated the west park team, scoring twice through inside centre Hollie Bawden and stand-off Aimee Wallace. The second third was slightly more even with West Park competing well at the break down and continually turning over possession and converting that into points. Eccles scored twice again through outside centre Leah Carlton-Morley and Number 8 Tysha Harper. West Park shared the spoils with 2 tries of their own.

The last third Eccles seemed to tire and west park seized upon this again turning over possession and scoring a further 4 tries, Eccles number 8 Tysha Harper rounded off an excellent game with a try for Eccles. Aimee Wallace convert 4 out 5 attempts at goal

A special thank you to those West Park girls who stepped in at front row for Eccles so that scrums could be contested.

Our next game will be a return fixture away at West Park Burnley this time in the Cup on Sunday 27th September.
