Christopher Tickle Fund update

I would like to thank all the attendees for their support on the recent race night. We had a good cross section of the Club supporting us, more than 60 people, despite the late notification from me. The function appeared to have been enjoyed by all and we have since been approached by numerous other Club Members asking for another Race Night, which I have promised to organise in the New Year.

We raised over £200 on the night, we received almost £100 in separate donations and the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Committee donated a further £100. In total £396.37 was raised.

I handed the cheque over to Chris’s dad, Keith, on Friday and as the newly appointed North West of England fund-raiser, he was extremely grateful. He was delighted to hear of the success of the evening, and the sum raised, and more especially, the success and support of our Duke of Edinburgh section. We should remember that Chris was awarded his D of E Gold.

This donation means the Christopher Tickle Fund has now raised over £15,000 for research into spinal injuries.

Our thanks go to the D of E volunteers who manned the betting stations. Their assistance and trustworthiness with the cash speak volumes for both the individuals concerned and the ethos of the movement.

Watch out for news of the Annual Chris Tickle Rugby Match, to take place over the Xmas holidays (date to be announced soon).

Thanks Again to All,
Dave Nick
