Battle of the 1sts 19th Aug 2017

In recognition of the recent Eccles RFC Duke of Edinburgh Gold epic expedition to France, where nine U18s players walked 150km over 5 days to lay tributes and poppy wreaths at the WW1 Thiepval memorial, a team from the 1st Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers will play Eccles 1st XV in a #Somme101 commemorative pre-season friendly.
11:00 – 13:00
We are holding an open training/rugby taster event across the whole female section on Saturday 19 August 2017,
The women and girls will train separately taking part in different sessions, but we intend to have some fun challenges that the whole group can get involved in. This is an opportunity for you to participate in our Women and Girls ‘Inner Warrior’ event and experience life at our growing RFU accredited, community rugby club. There will be rugby to play and rugby to watch; we will also take the opportunity to share some of our achievements with you. Eccles members of the women’s Lancashire county squad and our very own Scotland women’s international player will be in attendance.
14:00 – 16:00
Pre-season friendly with Eccles first team and 1st Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers
Following the game there will be refreshments and a big screen presentation in the clubhouse, where the young people will talk about their research of the Pals Battalions and their experience in France.
There will also be Sale Shark players making an appearance during the day to show their support and a BBQ throughout the day
