Eccles RFC are currently fielding three senior men’s teams, a senior women’s team, both junior and senior colts, a full range of juniors from under 7s through to under 16s and under 15s and 18s girls teams.
The Club is completely amateur with only paid bar staff. All other work in running the Club, from maintaining the grounds and buildings, running the bar and club house along with coaching and rugby admin, is done by volunteers. Having said that we like to think the standards are high, as a look at the pitches and facilities will reveal and as the fact that all teams have at least one RFU Level 1 coach attached with Level 2 coaches attached to the senior teams demonstrates.
The Club’s philosophy of the last 15 years or so, of developing the Colts, Juniors and Minis, along with the playing facilities, has lead to England, North and Lancashire representation at most youth levels. Whilst the Club is happy and proud for those players with the highest abilities to move on to the Premiership and National Leagues, the high standard of the Colts that stay with the Club will hopefully lead to the Senior adult teams rising to the highest possible level for an amateur Club.
Players can utilise the excellent gym facilities that comprise both weights and cardiovascular machines. We also have a state of the art 3rd generation, floodlit all-weather training area – no more ankle deep mud training sessions during the winter months!
All new players of any age and level from novice to seasoned campaigner are always welcome and should either turn up for training or speak to the Captains or Coaches – see individual pages for details.
